# Connecting Your LinkedIn Account to LinkInList

> Learn how to connect a LinkedIn account to LinkInList step by step, understand every account status, and resolve common connection issues quickly.

LinkInList is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform covering LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Meta Ads, and Email. Other channels — WhatsApp Business, Facebook Pages, Instagram, and Email — are connected in a few clicks via **Settings → Channels**. This page focuses specifically on **LinkedIn**, which requires its own dedicated setup due to proxy assignment and account warm-up.

Connecting your LinkedIn account is the first step to launching LinkedIn outreach campaigns. The process takes under two minutes — you enter your credentials once, LinkInList assigns your account a dedicated residential proxy, and the auto warm-up sequence begins automatically so your account builds trust with LinkedIn's algorithms before any campaigns go live.

<Warning>
  Do **not** log in to the same LinkedIn account from another browser or device while LinkInList is running. Concurrent sessions from different IP addresses can trigger a LinkedIn security check and temporarily lock your account.
</Warning>

## Prerequisites

Before you connect an account, make sure you have the following in place.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Active LinkedIn Account" icon="linkedin">
    Your LinkedIn account must be in good standing — no current restrictions, open flags, or pending verifications from LinkedIn.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Valid Email & Password" icon="key">
    Have your LinkedIn login email and password ready. SSO-only logins (Google, Apple) are not supported; set a LinkedIn password first if needed.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Two-Factor Authentication" icon="mobile">
    If 2FA is enabled on your LinkedIn account, keep your phone or authenticator app nearby. You will be prompted to enter a verification code during setup.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Stable Internet Connection" icon="wifi">
    Stay connected throughout the setup flow. A dropped connection mid-authentication may require you to restart the process.
  </Card>

## Step-by-Step Connection Process

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Accounts section">
    Log in to your LinkInList workspace at [app.linkinlist.com](https://app.linkinlist.com) and click **Accounts** in the left-hand navigation panel.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Add Account">
    On the Accounts page, click the **+ Add Account** button in the top-right corner. A connection modal will appear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your LinkedIn credentials">
    Type in the **email address** and **password** you use to log in to LinkedIn, then click **Connect**. Your credentials are encrypted in transit and stored at rest using AES-256 encryption — see the note below for more detail.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete 2FA verification (if enabled)">
    If your LinkedIn account has two-factor authentication turned on, LinkedIn will send a verification code to your phone number or authenticator app. Enter that code in the prompt that appears in LinkInList within the 60-second window. If the code expires, click **Resend Code** and try again.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Proxy assignment">
    Once your credentials are verified, LinkInList automatically assigns your account a **dedicated residential proxy IP**. This proxy acts as a consistent home or office internet connection for your account. You can review the assigned region — US, UK, EU, CA, or others — on the account detail page. No action is required from you; this happens automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Warm-up begins">
    Your account status moves to **Warming**. LinkInList's auto warm-up engine gradually increases your daily activity over two to three weeks so LinkedIn sees a natural ramp-up rather than a sudden burst. You will receive an in-app notification and email when your account reaches **Active** status and is ready for campaigns.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Your LinkedIn credentials are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and are never shared with any third party. LinkInList uses them solely to operate your account on your behalf.
</Note>

## Understanding Account Statuses

After connection, your account moves through a series of statuses displayed on the Accounts page. Here is what each one means.

| Status         | What it means                                                                                                                                         |
| -------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Connecting** | LinkInList is authenticating your credentials with LinkedIn. This usually takes under 30 seconds. |
| **Warming** | Authentication succeeded. The warm-up engine is gradually increasing daily activity. Campaigns cannot run yet. |
| **Active** | Warm-up is complete. Your account is ready for campaigns and running at full capacity. |
| **Paused** | You or a workspace admin manually paused the account. All campaign activity is stopped; the account remains connected. |
| **Error** | LinkInList lost access to your account — usually due to a changed password, a LinkedIn security check, or a session expiry. Reconnection is required. |

<Info>
  The **Warming** status does not mean your account is inactive. LinkInList is visiting profiles and performing light engagement behind the scenes to build a natural activity history. Interrupting this process (for example, by manually logging in from another device) can delay or reset the warm-up clock.
</Info>

## What to Do if Connection Fails

If the connection process does not complete successfully, work through the checks below based on the error message you see.

**Wrong credentials**

Double-check that you are using the email address and password for your LinkedIn account, not a Google or Apple account used as a login shortcut. If you are unsure of your LinkedIn password, reset it on LinkedIn first, then return to LinkInList and try again.

**2FA code not accepted**

Verification codes expire quickly. If the code times out, click **Resend Code** in the LinkInList modal and enter the new code within 30 seconds. Make sure your device clock is accurate — time-sync issues can cause authenticator apps to generate invalid codes.

**LinkedIn checkpoint (identity verification)**

Occasionally LinkedIn presents a CAPTCHA, a photo ID request, or a "We noticed unusual activity" checkpoint when an account logs in from a new IP for the first time. If this happens:

1. Dismiss the LinkInList modal.
2. Log in to LinkedIn directly in your browser and complete the checkpoint.
3. Log out of LinkedIn in your browser.
4. Return to LinkInList and retry the connection.

**Account restricted by LinkedIn**

If LinkedIn has placed a restriction on your account, you must resolve that restriction directly with LinkedIn before LinkInList can connect. Check your LinkedIn inbox and the email address associated with the account for any notices from LinkedIn.

## Reconnecting a Disconnected Account

If your account status changes to **Error**, your session has expired or LinkedIn has invalidated the stored credentials. To reconnect:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Navigate to Accounts">
    Go to **Accounts** in the left nav and locate the account showing the **Error** badge.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Click Reconnect">
    Click the **⋯** menu on the account card and select **Reconnect**. The same connection modal used during initial setup will open.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Re-enter your credentials">
    Enter your current LinkedIn email and password. If you changed your password on LinkedIn, make sure you use the new one.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete 2FA if prompted">
    Follow the same 2FA steps as initial connection. Once verified, your account resumes its previous status — it does not restart the warm-up period unless the session was disconnected for more than 30 days.
  </Step>
</Steps>
